Street Markets
(Palermo, Catania)

Commerce is one of the most widespread and ancient activities. Historical markets in Catania are still essentially two: the so-called Fera ‘o Luni (Monday market, even if it takes place everyday) and Piscaria (fish market). Butchers and fishermen work in the streets not caring if blood is spilled.
Palermo has two of the most famous markets in Sicily: La Vucciria and Ballarò. Not only you are able to buy fresh food, you can also taste a variety of raw fish, such as the Sea Urchins or eat the renowned Pani câ meusa (bread with spleen): another example of Sicilian street food.
